It’s official! As of April 1st , 2015, I am a business! That’s the day I received my business license.
I don’t want to reveal too much before I am officially up and running but I am a wedding officiant/ singer-for-hire. Thanks to some advice from Luvvie Ajayi gained from my frequent visits to her Awesomely Techie blog, i now own a few shiny, new URLs that are still in their original packaging. I am also gaining the knowledge and tools to create an effective website, advertise utilizing social media and what apps will help me be efficient and organized in the running of my business.
That’s the news for now!
Earlier this year, I became an ordained minister. It is a non-denominational affiliation that I acquired mainly to be able to perform weddings but I can also preside over funerals/ burials or baptisms.
I received my credentials and have basically been sitting on them. I’ve had a lot going on personally and am now getting to the point where I have the time to work on my business plan and my business. My business will be a sole proprietorship where I will be a wedding officiant as well as offering services as a wedding singer.
This is where I will begin storing my ceremony ideas. When I find readings and blurbs that speak to me, I write them down. Of course, there will be copies backed up on my laptop but I have always been a fan of pen to paper.
I am also working on website ideas and other marketing opportunities. Since it is just me, I don’t want to expand too quickly but I definitely see myself expanding and having a partner or maybe employees. There is a lot to consider and I am definitely just in the planning stages right now but I am SUPER excited.
It’s only Monday and it has already been a trying week. Sheesh!
Truth be told, the whole month of March has been pretty hard on me; I really had to dig to find 10 things for this post. I just had to work a little to remember that in spite of it all, I am truly blessed. Something that helped me was recalling a song that we used to sing when I was on the praise team at church (back when I use to go).
The song simply says…
‘As I look back over my life, I can see how Your love has guided me. Even though I’ve done wrong, You never left me alone; You forgave me, and still You kept on blessing’. So, here we go!
1.) God-I know that not everyone believes but I do. My faith helps me through the tough times.
2.) Work!-I am soooo thankful to be employed; even though my job stresses me out sometimes.
3.) Family-The one I was born into as well as those I’ve added by choice.
4.) My Parents-I got to spend another birthday (hers) with my mommy and they just celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary.
5.) Tomi-we had our 6 month wedding anniversary. Still the best day ever!
6.) Entrepreneurial Endeavors-I have become an ordained minister and am now waiting for my business license. I am going to perform weddings!
7.) Music-I love creating playlists for the different aspects of my life. I appreciate the way music helps you feel your feelings; good bad or indifferent.
8.) Hayley-Shih Tzu cuddles are the best after a long, hard day.
9.) Positive Self-Image
I appreciate all the positive body imagery I come across on my journey to improve my body.
10.) Life-It’s crazy, stressful, happy, sad, tumultuous, rewarding and countless other descriptive words. Most importantly, its mine! I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Since I am wide awake at 3am, I thought it would be a great time to share a bit of myself with the world.
1. I stopped growing at the age of 12; I am 6ft tall.
2. I had my daughter when I was 14 years old; she turned 21 on January 23rd. I took her for her first bar drink.
3. I auditioned for Star Search when I was in high school. I sang Vision Of Love by Mariah Carey.
4. I have two favorite movies: Imitation Of Life & Funny Valentines.
5. I once lost my voice for an entire year. Not being able to sing was torture.
6. When I was a little girl, I use to dream of taking over my dad’s boxing gym when he retired. I still consider it.
7. I have more than 50 pairs of earrings. I love accessories!
8. I plan to have a drag queen in my wedding.
9. I plan to own a bed & breakfast some day.
10. I love collecting frog & turtle knick-knackery.
Well, there you have it. The randomness that is JaVonna. Drink it in!
