Mother’s Day weekend was pretty amazing. One our granddaughters, Jayden, celebrated her golden birthday; She turned 8 on the 8th. We went to see her in a musical and then we all went out to dinner.
Then, there was our annual Mother’s Day brunch which also happened to fall on the 26th birthday of our 2nd youngest daughter, Keely. We ate, we laughed and enjoyed ourselves. It was a wonderful time as usual and I’m already looking forward to next year.
These two lovelies had birthdays! Our daughter Megan and granddaughter Jayden.

Happy Mother’s Day to this gorgeous woman. I am so grateful that God chose her as the vessel to bring me life. She is my best friend, a great hugger and…let’s just say I could go on forever about my Mommy.
Happy Mother’s Day to my wife and bestie. Parenting with you is AWESOME!
We had our annual Mother’s Day brunch at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Tacoma. Its always a good time.
I am so thankful for my mother! Tomi & I got to take her to brunch again which has become our tradition; I think this is year number 6. We did the all-you-can-eat bruch at the LaQuinta Inn in Tacoma. It was delicious as usual. Tomi & I didn’t get to spend any time with either of our children that are local because they had better things to do apparently but no love lost…maybe a little disappointment though.
This is from our brunch a couple years back. We always take a picture together whenever we get together. I love having the memories and being able to look back and see how we’ve changed although it doesn’t seem like my mom ages at all. I am thankful to have those genes.
As I am getting older, I really appreciate the time that I get to spend with my mom because I know that she won’t be around forever. I love the fact that I have so many great memories of time with my mother. She has made sure that I knew that the world is bigger than my neighborhood. She did her best to make sure that I was ready for the world. I think she did an AMAZING job if I do say so myself.
Four years ago, we started a tradition of an annual Mother’s Day brunch. We picked the LaQuinta Inn-Tacoma because it was close to my mom and they have a great brunch. The first two years there was five of us: My mom, Tomi, Megan, JaLisa & myself. There were lots of laughs and fun times. The third year it was just my mom, Tomi & I. That was a lot of fun because we went to the Silver Fork in Seattle; amazing soul food. This year, Mother’s Day & Jayden’s 4th birthday fell on the same day and we were back at the LaQuinta. Jayden went with us to brunch this year and added a whole new dynamic of fun.
She was very accepting of the concept that it was her birthday but we couldn’t convince her that she was 4. Her understanding was that she didn’t officially turn 4 until she opened presents at her birthday party scheduled for later that day.
She was fascinated with the brunch/ buffet concept. “JaVonna, what do I get to eat?”, she asked me. “Anything you want as long as you eat it and don’t waste.” I told her. To which she replied “I am gonna eat a lot!”. We all ate a lot and it was good.
Our tradition after eating is to take pics of everyone so I picked my favorite to share. There was lots of love shared that day. Who knows what combination of us will be there next year? I am excited by the possibilities.
